TOOLS

Most of simulators run under DOS and don't require "big" PC. Depending on model , a 486 will do the job but a Pentium 200 + 15" will give better performance for a low cost to a good mechanic not involved in PC . This is wrong , i am waiting Santa Claus and killer PC! This will offer ability to Mac user to run them under VPC without problem (wrong too , G4 bipro 1Ghz min!).
I had look for light "freeware" for each specific job to accomplish specific task and choose to use text files and images separately . Thanks to all these guys to had offered their software .
These tools are more comfortable but not required . You can use the Windows 's notepad / wordpad and imaging . The idea is to print text at low cost to read explanations supported by images as rich texts increase files size .

IrfanView ( English ) : 0.7Mo
Optional . Images editor, sounds ... I like it for ability to skip from an image to another by one click in task bar... your favourite editor will do the same ( .gif/.jpg/.bmp ) .

Winreg ( French ) : 0.6Mo
Optional . Spreadsheet at Excel 4.0 format so limited but very good for graph ( press F8 , that's all ) and especially to perform non-linear regression ( find a math function which calculate plot for same data you loaded ) , Magic ( press F6 , that's all ) ! . Any other spreadsheet will open calc files but not perform regression .

Optional . Automatic digitaliser for curve , plot .. . A power curve , a valve lift ... acquired under .gif to give you a text file that you open using Winreg in seconds !
